Description : The summer placements have been mostly lack luster in most of the B-schools. Its almost certain to have a bearing on the final placements.
Will the career preferences change in wake of this ? |

| Replied By :neo_logi | Date : 2008-11-25 22:08:34 | | going by the recent placement seasons, Banking has already taken a hit and the % no. of students joining banking has reduced by 20-25 % across all the IIMs despite a no. of increase in the student due to OBC quota. Either by choice or by compulsion but students are joining more of consulting and marketing firm rather than Banking jobs, General Management jobs have taken a hit as well since the firms are shelving their expansion plans and new vacancies are not being created at the top level. |

Although a far cry from the 51.3 per cent last year, the sector saw the highest percentage of acceptance at 32 per cent this year
While consulting came a close second at 26 per cent, marketing was the largest gainer from previous years with 23 per cent of the batch choosing to opt for marketing roles. |
